About IIMV MDC (SHODH SAMAGAM)

The colloquium will bring together a brilliant group of doctoral and early career researchers in various fields of management across the globe to present and discuss their doctoral work/working papers/research papers with experts in their field and receive constructive feedback in a pleasant atmosphere. Finance, marketing, human resource management, strategic management, operations and supply chain management, and other themes within the broad field of management will be considered. Further, this colloquium will provide an excellent opportunity to network with other junior academics as well as established researchers, as well as reflect on your future academic career in a supportive and developing setting. SHODH SAMAGAM is an annual doctoral colloquium for doctoral researcher in management research which aims to bring doctoral students from all over the world at a platform to share their research idea. This doctoral colloquium will help researchers in shaping their idea based on feedback received from eminent faculties and peer researchers.

About IIM Vishakhapatnam

The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) belongs to the prestigious IIM family of business schools. It is a new generation IIM, set up by the Government of India in September 2015. The Indian Institutes of Management Act 2017 declares IIMs as Institutions of National Importance. IIMV is being mentored by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, to attain standards of global excellence in management, management research, and allied areas of knowledge. The academic and governance processes of IIM Visakhapatnam are therefore completely aligned with those of IIM Bangalore, ensuring high standards, ab initio. IIMV is currently located in its temporary, yet    state-of-the-art facility in the salubrious Andhra University campus in the 'City of Destiny', Visakhapatnam. The Institute has begun the process for building a permanent, full-fledged, word-class campus, about 25 kilometers from the present (temporary/transit) campus. The team of faculty at the Institute have impressive academic and research credentials: all our faculty are from top-notch institutions in India and abroad.

IIMV is equipped with the latest digital technologies and state- of-the-art classrooms designed to spark innovative ideas and collective brainstorming. Despite the disruption and challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, IIMV has developed cutting-edge pedagogy and online classroom infrastructure to ensure that learning remains a continuous process virtually. Several virtual classrooms have been developed that can function    independent of the VC platform and can also enable multiple screen sharing. For the VC Classroom product, in addition to the sufficient Zoom licenses, the Institute has also procured licenses of the high secure Cisco WebEx Meeting Centre. Faculty can also use the WACOM monitor for annotation on the PPT/PDF/whiteboard. To tie all the above technologies together, IIMV uses the latest variant of the Moodle as the LMS       solution for all participants.

IIMV library is equipped with the latest software packages and large collection of books, CDs, videos, Indian and International journals; magazines and research reports relating to management and allied areas. Our library collection includes 12000+ E-books, 4766+ E-journals and 9 databases (EBSCO Business Source Complete, JSTOR, ProQuest ABI Inform, CRISIL Research, Indiastat.com, WARC, Passport Euromonitor, South Asian Achieve, LexixNexis Academic.

The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) is an Institution of National Importance under the IIM Act, 2017.    The Institute’s objectives enshrined under the Act are to:

  • Educate and support leaders who can contribute as professional managers, entrepreneurs, and stewards of existing and emerging enterprises in the private, public, and social sectors.
  • Provide management education of high quality and to promote allied areas of knowledge as well as interdisciplinary studies.
  • Support and develop programs promoting social and gender equity.
  • Develop educational programs and faculties that advance the cause of education, teaching and learning, across disciplines.
