Prof. Ranganathan was RBI Chair Professor on Infrastructure at IIM Bangalore. He has professional experience of teaching Managerial Economics for about 25 years and introduced text by John Taylor to India.

He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, AIT, IIM Kashipur, IIM ndore and IIM Udaipur. His Consulting assignments with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Nepal Administrative Staff College, African Energy Policy Research Network,  BEML, Ministry of Water, and Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, deserve special mention
