It has been a great pleasure to be a member of Board of Governors of
this prestigious Institute since August 2017. The Institute has evolved
over past 60 months into one of the most premier business schools in
India, despite many challenges. The Director, Prof M Chandrasekhar
has done a great job in delivering the results including attracting and
retaining the pool of talented faculty members at IIMV .
We may be among the first 4 generation IIMs that set up the
th
incuba-tion cum innovation centre at the campus. This would be
one of the most vibrant torch bearers of the innovation in South
India, especially on the east coast. I’m pleased to be the chair of the
board of the incubation centre and expect this centre to be the
epicentre of entrepreneurial ecosystem in and around
Visakhapatnam.
Our students have won multiple awards across the nation in
multiple competitions proving their mettle and they are the flag
bearers of IIMV. The impeccable placement record also shows our
capability to deliver quality managers to India Inc. We always
consider the place-ment track record as the barometer for the
quality of management education at IIMV and the placement
committee and faculties have done a wonderful job in attracting the
recruiters to the campus.
I wish all the best to all our students and thanks to our director,
staff, faculties for achieving such a success on grand scale within
short period of 5 years despite multiple teething problems and I am
confi-dent that our Institute will continue to excel under the
leadership of Prof M Chandrasekhar.

In merely five years of its existence, I am thrilled that IIM Vizag has
carved a place for itself on India’s higher education roadmap. India
often prides itself on its young population – indeed our youth are a
tremendous asset when their efforts and energies are directed by edu-
cation of the highest standards. Swami Vivekananda once said, “a
nation is advanced in proportion to education and intelligence spread
among the masses”.
I congratulate IIM Vizag for playing that role in helping the country
advance; and equipping our youth to take on the future. Institutions
like IIM Vizag provide young minds with an opportunity to get expo-
sure to some of the best faculty in the country, learn the skills they
need to set themselves up for success and shape meaningful careers.
At a time when our economy is evolving and has a potential to grow
rapidly, our industry and corporates need new managers and leaders
and they look to premier institutes such as the IIMs to meet the
demand for talent.
Very soon, the first phase of facilities at the new campus are expected
to be functional, and I hope to see this Institute emerging as one of
the best colleges for management education and research in the
near future. I congratulate IIM Vizag faculty, team, alumni
and students on this achievement, and wish them the very best
in the years to come.
