Leadership Development Program for the Officers from Voluntary Health Services (VHS)

A three-day customized Leadership Development Program was conducted for the Officers from Voluntary Health Services (VHS) at IIMV campus between 8 and 10 November 20022. Addressing the gathering at the inaugural, the Chief Guest for the event, Shri Vijayaraman, Deputy Director, VHS, discussed the need of continual learning and the function of such training programmes in strengthening a leader’s overall personality. To maximise their learning during the training, he urged participants to observe the links between theory and practise. 

Sharing the experience of the customized training program, Ms. W. Venkateswaramma of VHS said, “The 3-day MDP program was a great learning experience because it offered examples that are highly pertinent to my filed of work and introduced me to techniques that I can employ on field.” Another participant, Mr. K Krishna Murthy noted that, “It was a privilege to receive training at IIMV, which covered a majority of concepts and situations linked to ours and helped us clarify our priorities”. Prof Shivshanker Singh Patel, Coordinator (Academics & Research), delivered the valedictory address and lauded the participants for their involvement in Project ASPIRE (Advancing Sustainability, Partnerships and Innovations for Reaching Epidemic control) (which is supported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)). 

The 3-day program, led by Prof. Sunitha T and Prof. Karthika S, covered topics such as leadership & influence, strategic leadership, and project management for the social sector. Sessions also focussed on managing teams, managing conflicts through negotiation, and storytelling and persuasive communication.
