IIM Visakhapatnam successfully concluded the first batch of the one-year PG Certificate Program in Investment Banking & Capital Markets, marking a significant milestone in executive education in finance.
The program offered a rigorous and industry-oriented curriculum covering contemporary domains such as investment banking fundamentals, financial statement analysis, mergers and acquisitions valuation, M&A strategy and process, equity and debt capital markets, leveraged buyouts, financial restructuring, securities sales and trading, private equity and venture capital, and fintech applications in investment banking. Designed to bridge theory and practice, the program equipped participants with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in an evolving financial landscape.
The Valedictory Address was delivered by Shri Venkat N. Chalasani, Chief Executive of AMFI and former Deputy Managing Director of the State Bank of India. He spoke on the rapidly evolving Indian capital markets, emerging opportunities, and the growing need for programmes that effectively integrate academic rigour with practical relevance. He highlighted the changing dynamics of the Indian debt market and the regulatory initiatives supporting its growth.
He emphasised the importance of asset valuation for investment banking professionals and discussed opportunities for wealth managers, along with innovations in financial products. He also outlined the growth trajectory of the PE–VC ecosystem in India and the increasing demand for skilled professionals in these domains.
He concluded by underscoring the importance of ethical and regulatory compliance in the finance profession, commended IIM Visakhapatnam for this timely initiative, and encouraged participants to pursue emerging opportunities with responsibility.
Program Director Prof. Shalini Agnihotri congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the program and shared an overview of the course structure along with insights into the capstone projects undertaken by the learners. Prof. Pooja Kumari, the Program Co-Director, expressed her gratitude to the Chief Guest and participants, underscoring the importance of collaborative and interactive learning in the program. She also thanked Prof. M. Chandrasekhar for his unwavering support in shaping these programs and extended her appreciation to Prof. M.
