IIM Visakhapatnam and ACCA Sign MoU to Enhance Finance Education and Professional Excellence

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam, an Institute of National Importance, and ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), a globally recognised professional accountancy body, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance educational opportunities and promote professional excellence in accountancy and finance.

The signing ceremony was officiated by Shri. Prabhanshu Mittal, Head of Educational Partner Relationships, India at ACCA, and Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean of Academics at IIM Visakhapatnam. The MoU was exchanged in the esteemed presence of Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam and faculty. 

This partnership aims to elevate academic outcomes by providing students access to ACCA’s globally recognised qualifications and integrating international standards into academic learning. The collaboration also seeks to advance professional and faculty development. By combining their strengths, ACCA and IIM Visakhapatnam will create a dynamic, globally relevant learning environment for aspiring finance professionals.

Under the MoU, both institutions will facilitate academic collaboration through co-branded programmes, knowledge-sharing workshops, and student-centric seminars. ACCA will lead professional development initiatives, including train-the-trainer modules and faculty development programmes, designed to enhance teaching capabilities and align pedagogy with global industry demands. The partnership will also encourage joint innovation and research in accountancy and finance, contributing to the ongoing evolution of the profession.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty said, "ACCA, with its purpose of being a force for public good and leading the global accountancy profession by creating opportunities, and IIMV, with its mission to nurture entrepreneurial leaders, together, I believe, will help shape the future of global business leadership."

Prof. M. Chandrasekhar said, "At the Institute, we currently cater to the knowledge-pursuits of about 6,500 learners, young as well as the experienced, through diverse short- and long-duration programs. We strive to bring international standards of education to our learners. Our partnership with ACCA is a step in the same direction, providing them with the leverage to thrive in a rapidly changing global financial landscape."

Shri Prabhanshu Mittal highlighted that ACCA, present in over 180 countries, looks forward to collaborating with the premier institute IIM Visakhapatnam for curriculum development aligned with international standards. The partnership will also include workshops, faculty development initiatives, and executive education programs, providing students with a global edge through this MoU, he added. 

The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Pooja Kumari, Finance & Accounting, IIMV who expressed gratitude to all participants and emphasised the importance of this collaboration in shaping the future of accounting and finance education.
