Momentous Occasion: IIMV Signs MoU with AMFI to Boost Financial Literacy in AP

IIM Visakhapatnam has partnered with the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) to promote household portfolio diversification and financial empowerment in Andhra Pradesh.

With less than 5% of Indian household portfolios in financial assets and significant systemic risk due to poor risk transfer, safer investment options like mutual funds are crucial. While India’s mutual fund industry manages close to USD 1 trillion, it accounts for just 22% of GDP—far below developed economies such as Australia, which exceeds 185%.

Through this collaboration, IIMV and AMFI aim to bridge this gap with evidence-based interventions and targeted financial literacy programs, empowering households to drive India’s economic growth.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Vijaya Marisetty, Dean (Academics), on behalf of IIM Visakhapatnam, and Shri Venkat N. Chalasani, CEO of AMFI. We sincerely thank him for his trust, and express our gratitude to Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman of SEBI, for his support and gracious presence at the signing.

As the only IIM with the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair, this further strengthens our commitment to financial inclusion for a Viksit Bharat@2047.
