IIM Visakhapatnam Partners with IIIT Agartala to Strengthen Techno-Managerial Education
September 11, 2025: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) has entered a collaboration with the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala (IIIT Agartala) to expand the Post-Graduate Program in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI). This partnership is aimed at creating a seamless pathway for engineering students and recent graduates to combine their technical knowledge with essential management competencies, preparing them for leadership roles in technology-driven industries.
The MoU was formalized in a virtual ceremony by Prof. Abhay Kumar, Director, IIIT Agartala, and Prof. Chandrasekhar M, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, Program chair, along with faculty members and students from both institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to academic collaboration and holistic student development.
The PGPMCI program is a unique academic initiative conceptualized to integrate technical expertise with management skills. In line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, participants can earn a Diploma in Management in the first year, with the option to continue into the second year to complete a full MBA program. This structure allows students to gain managerial knowledge and practical exposure without interrupting their technical studies, enhancing their employability and career growth prospects.
With this MoU, IIM Visakhapatnam now maintains active PGPMCI partnerships with 17 leading NITs and IIITs, reinforcing its mission to provide multidisciplinary, industry-relevant, and future-ready education. The collaboration also paves the way for students to access a broader network of faculty, alumni, and peer learning opportunities, creating an enriched learning environment for aspiring techno-managers.
