IIM Visakhapatnam and IIIT Senapati, Manipur Partner to Offer Modular MBA: PGPMCI
The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Senapati, Manipur have partnered through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to extend the Post-Graduate Program in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI).
The MoU was signed at the IIMV campus by Prof. Krishnan Baskar, Director of IIIT Senapati, Manipur, and Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam. With this agreement, IIM Visakhapatnam has expanded its PGPMCI collaborations to 18 premier NITs and IIITs.
The modular MBA program, pioneered by IIM Visakhapatnam, is designed for students and recent graduates of Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), equipping them with essential management knowledge alongside their B.Tech./M.Tech. degrees. Rooted in the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the program nurtures techno-managerial capabilities and prepares participants for future leadership roles.
The PGPMCI offers a flexible structure: students can earn a Diploma in Management at the end of the first year and may continue into the second year to complete an MBA. The program also incorporates campus immersion modules, providing students with valuable opportunities for in-person learning and professional networking.
Speaking about the program, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar described it as “a powerful blend of technical expertise and management acumen.” He highlighted that IIM Visakhapatnam facilitates preferential internship opportunities for PGPMCI participants, strengthening experiential learning. He further added, “This MoU also creates opportunities for faculty and student exchange.”
Program Chair, Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, emphasized that PGPMCI integrates entrepreneurial thinking with insights from both academia and industry across ten domains, including Marketing, Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management, and Strategy. He also highlighted the convenience of its hybrid delivery model, which includes two campus immersions for holistic learning. Prof. Krishnan Baskar expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, pointing out the growing interest among students in pursuing management education. He remarked that the PGPMCI is particularly valuable as it enables students to combine technical knowledge with managerial skills early in their careers. He also highlighted that opportunities such as startup grants would provide graduates with a distinct competitive edge in the job market.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean (Academics), IIMV, who reiterated IIMV’s mission of “educating and nurturing entrepreneurial leaders.”
Admissions for the PGPMCI program are now open until September 30, 2025. Eligible applicants include current B.Tech. and M.Tech. students of NITs and IIITs that have signed MoUs with IIM Visakhapatnam as well as alumni of all CFTIs who graduated in the current or previous academic year.
