IIM Visakhapatnam Expands PGPMCI Network with NIT Durgapur
September 19, 2025: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) has further strengthened its network to nurture techno managers by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Post Graduate Program in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI) with the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (NIT Durgapur).
The MoU was formalized by Prof. Arvind Choubey, Director, NIT Durgapur, and Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, Program Chair, PGPMCI, IIM Visakhapatnam, along with faculty, staff, and students from both institutions.
“The PGPMCI program was conceptualized in 2023 as a collaborative initiative among IIM Visakhapatnam, NIT Warangal, IIITDM Kurnool, and IIPE Visakhapatnam. Designed to integrate technical proficiency with managerial insight, the program offers around 360 contact hours of teaching, delivered in an online mode over one year,” highlighted Prof. M. Shameem Jawed. On average, students engage in 8 to 10 hours of classroom learning per week, spanning approximately 30 to 35 weeks. The program also includes optional campus immersion, allowing participants to interact with peers and faculty during the second-year cohort’s mandatory on campus sessions. Module 2 begins with a mandatory campus immersion, enabling experiential learning and deeper institutional engagement.
Expressing his views on the collaboration, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar said, “This is a very important day for us. Joining hands with an institution of such high repute as NIT Durgapur enhances knowledge domains and expands career prospects for B.Tech. students. It opens before them a world of opportunities, be it entrepreneurship, higher studies, or professional employment.”
Prof. Arvind Choubey, highlighted the institute’s achievements and the spirit of collaboration, adding, “Together, let us continue to build a vibrant pool of knowledge, innovation, and service to society.”
The ceremony concluded with appreciation for the collective efforts that made this collaboration possible. Faculty, students, and stakeholders from NIT Durgapur actively participated, reflecting enthusiasm for this transformative initiative.
