Nurturing Women Leadership in Science and Technology under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology (DST) Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India

08th December 2025: IIM Visakhapatnam inaugurated the Training Program on “Nurturing Women Leadership in Science & Technology (S&T)” under the aegis of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Led by Prof. Bishakha Majumdar and Prof. Anupama Sharma, the program brings together 27 scientists from Grades B to F, representing premier organisations such as DRDO, CSIR, RINL, ECIL, Central Silk Board, NPOL, and others.

Addressing the cohort, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIMV, highlighted the STEM gap: while over 40% of women pursue STEM education, fewer than 25% enter S&T careers.

The program focuses on strengthening people skills, leadership communication, strategic thinking, and fostering inclusive workplaces to support women leaders in S&T. It also provides a valuable platform for peer learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

The program aligns with IIMV’s long-standing efforts toward gender inclusivity, highlighted by our 52% women PGP enrollment and nearly 50% women faculty.
