IIM Visakhapatnam is a Member of the Business Graduates Association (BGA), a global body under AMBA (Association of MBAs) that promotes excellence and continuous improvement in management education. The Institute’s engagement with BGA reflects its commitment to strengthening academic governance, ethical values, and stakeholder-focused management education practices.
Through this membership, IIM Visakhapatnam benchmarks its institutional processes against internationally recognised standards and continuously enhances academic delivery, learning experience, and institutional effectiveness. The BGA framework supports the Institute’s focus on building relevance, global outlook, and long-term institutional impact through structured quality improvement and adoption of contemporary best practices.

This membership reflects the Institute’s focus on globally aligned academic standards, high-quality curriculum systems, strong faculty orientation, and meaningful engagement with industry and society.
As part of its continuous improvement journey, IIM Visakhapatnam adopts globally accepted quality frameworks in teaching–learning processes, outcome-based education, academic governance, and institutional impact. AACSB membership aligns with the Institute’s strategic intent to strengthen international benchmarking, academic excellence, and globally competitive management education.

IIM Visakhapatnam participates in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the official ranking framework of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Institute engages with NIRF as part of its commitment to transparency, national benchmarking, and performance measurement using standardised indicators across academic and institutional dimensions.
The Institute uses NIRF participation as a structured mechanism to assess its performance in areas such as teaching-learning resources, research, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. This enables continuous strengthening of institutional systems through evidence-based planning, internal review processes, and outcome-oriented improvement initiatives.

IM Visakhapatnam is recognised under the Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) scheme of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. This recognition reflects the Institute’s focus on strengthening research orientation, institutional research governance, and a robust ecosystem that supports innovation and knowledge creation.
The Institute actively promotes research-led academic excellence through faculty-driven research contributions, research projects, and collaborative initiatives aligned with national and industry priorities. SIRO recognition reinforces IIM Visakhapatnam’s institutional commitment towards enhancing research capacity, encouraging impactful scholarship, and strengthening the overall research environment.

IIM Visakhapatnam now a member of SDSN
The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam has been accepted as a member of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The SDSN was set up in 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society.
SDSN is brings together global sustainable development leaders from all regions and all sectors, including civil society, public, and private sectors. Much of SDSN’s work is led by National or Regional SDSNs, which mobilize knowledge institutions around the SDGs. The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam is part of the South Asia Regional Network of SDSN.
SDSN members help in mobilizing research & policy experts from around the world on the technical challenges of implementing the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement. The SDG Academy meanwhile leads the education work of the SDSN. SDSN has offices in New York, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur.

Academic Quality & Continuous Improvement
The Institute follows systematic approaches to ensure academic quality and continuous enhancement across programmes. These mechanisms include structured assessment processes, learning outcomes mapping, curriculum review practices, academic governance systems, and stakeholder feedback loops. As part of this academic quality framework, the Institute has implemented Assurance of Learning (AoL) processes to monitor learning achievement and strengthen teaching–learning effectiveness across programmes.
Through evidence-based quality enhancement initiatives, the Institute ensures that learning objectives remain aligned with programme outcomes and evolving industry needs. The Institute’s AoL practices are also strengthened in alignment with AACSB quality standards, reinforcing an outcome-based approach to learning, continuous improvement, and institutional excellence. This quality culture supports academic rigor, learning effectiveness, and long-term institutional credibility.
