As a first mover among its generation of IIMs, we launched the doctoral program in 2019, leading to the award of PhD Degree, in two areas of management. Given the overwhelming response the Program received from potential researchers, the program is currently being offered in all management areas, viz., Decision Sciences, Economics & Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Finance & Accounting, Information Systems, Management Communications, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Production & Operations Management and Public Policy. As an Institution of National Importance under the IIM Act 2017, we are focusing on contemporary management-research of high quality and large impact.

The PhD program is an enabling avenue for advancing new knowledge and innovation in management theory and practice, as enshrined in the objects of the Act. Accordingly, our topical learning-resources; state-of-the-art facilities, and modern research tools foster an intensive, immersive, and fulfilling doctoral-career. IIM Visakhapatnam is an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India (GoI). It is at 26th position among Business schools pan-India in the National Institutions Ranking Framework 2024 of the Government of India and it is ahead of all new-generation IIMs established in 2015/16.

The vision of IIM Visakhapatnam is to champion and excel in educating and nurturing entrepreneurial leaders in creating innovative solutions, for business, government and society. With increasing achievements of IIM Visakhapatnam, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has entrusted us to train, mentor and nurture aspiring entrepreneurs who are willing to start new businesses and contribute to overall development of the society.

Our PG Certificate Program in Entrepreneurship has been carefully designed to cater to aspirations, needs and challenges of aspiring entrepreneurs coming up with innovative business ideas. As part of this program, the academic training component spans over 10months with three academic terms, and the mentorship for venture creation and business growth spans over 08 months. The mentorship program begins from the Second Term of academic training program. The program includes two offline campus immersions for a duration of 15days each at the start and end of the academic training period.
