IIM Visakhapatnam Welcomes 4th Executive MBA Batch for 2026-28
Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam inaugurated the 4th batch of its Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Programme for the 2026-28 Summer Intake in a grand ceremony. The programme welcomed experienced professionals from across the country, marking another significant milestone in the institute’s growing executive education ecosystem.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Khurshed Dordi, Shareholder Director, SBI, Managing Director - Business Consulting, Leadership Coach, GCC Expert, former MD & CEO/COO Deutsche Bank India, bestselling author of ‘The Art of Conversation’ and ‘Corporate Quicksand’ and Founder NortheStar as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the incoming cohort, Shri Khurshed Dordi emphasized that leadership in today’s rapidly evolving world demands depth, judgment, and the ability to connect the dots across industries and functions. Encouraging participants to fully leverage the learning environment at IIM Visakhapatnam, he urged them to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and broaden their range of thinking to become future-ready leaders capable of driving meaningful enterprise impact.
Welcoming the participants, Prof. M. Chandrashekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, highlighted the importance of rational thinking, critical inquiry, and evidence-based analysis in leadership and decision-making. He encouraged participants to immerse themselves in the programme’s academic rigour and collaborative peer-learning environment.
Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, Admission Chair, IIM Visakhapatnam, presented the profile of the incoming EMBA cohort. The batch comprises professionals from diverse sectors including IT, banking, manufacturing, consulting, and services, bringing together participants from 14 states across India. The cohort has an average age of 34 years and an average work experience of over nine years. Notably, women constitute nearly 30% of the batch, reflecting the institute’s continued progress towards greater diversity and inclusivity in executive education.
Speaking on the learning journey ahead, Prof. Abhishek Srivastava, Programme Chairperson, noted that success in the contemporary business environment increasingly depends on agility, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving. He described the EMBA programme as a platform designed not only for managerial growth, but also for lifelong friendships, shared learning, reflective thinking, and meaningful professional engagement.
Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean (Academics), IIM Visakhapatnam, spoke about the transformative power of an Executive MBA in enabling professionals to think strategically, lead effectively, and deliver impact with speed and clarity. He emphasized that the programme helps participants transition from authority to influence, from functional expertise to enterprise-wide thinking, and from effort to measurable impact.
Shri Sridhar Nagarajachar, Business Head, TimesPro, highlighted how the two-year EMBA programme enables participants to build intellectual capital, network capital, and personal brand capital. He noted that the programme offers nearly 1,000 hours of rigorous learning across domains such as data analytics, decision sciences, strategy, leadership, and business management, knowledge that would otherwise take years of on-ground experience to acquire.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of Certificates of Merit and the Director’s Merit List to recognize academic excellence and outstanding performance among participants of the EMBA 2025-27 batch. Participants from this previous summer intake batch, comprising 144 professionals, were also present on campus for their immersion component, creating opportunities for interaction and peer learning between cohorts.
The Executive MBA Programme at Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam, offered in technical collaboration with TimesPro, is designed to empower mid-career professionals with advanced managerial knowledge, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities required to navigate complex business environments and accelerate career growth. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, who expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, faculty members, partners, and participants for their continued support and collaboration.
Feedback from outgoing batches highlighted significant growth in strategic thinking, leadership capabilities, confidence, and career progression among participants, with many reporting promotions and expanded leadership responsibilities after completing the programme. Reflecting its commitment to global standards in management education, the institute is a Member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business ( AACSB) and holds a five-year accreditation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA).
