IIM Visakhapatnam Expands PGPMCI Network with NIT Calicut
October 5, 2026: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam further expanded the reach of its Post Graduate Program in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut). With this collaboration, NIT Calicut becomes the 21st institution to join the PGPMCI initiative, marking another milestone in the programme’s expansion across India.
The MoU signing ceremony brought together the leadership of both institutions. The programme commenced with a welcome and opening remarks by Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, Chairperson, PGPMCI, IIM Visakhapatnam, followed by opening remarks from Prof. A. V. Babu, Dean Academic, NIT Calicut. Prof. M. Shameem Jawed also presented a brief overview of PGPMCI and outlined the objectives of the institutional collaboration.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, and Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, shared their perspectives on the collaboration and its potential to strengthen management education opportunities for students of technical institutions.
The PGPMCI programme, conceptualised in 2023, is designed to complement technical education with managerial knowledge and capabilities, enabling students from leading technical institutions to develop a broader understanding of management alongside their core disciplines. The expanding network reflects IIM Visakhapatnam’s efforts to foster stronger academic collaboration between management and technical institutions across the country.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, marking the beginning of the collaboration between IIM Visakhapatnam and NIT Calicut under the PGPMCI initiative.
