IIM Visakhapatnam Observes Anti-Ragging Week 2026
IIM Visakhapatnam observed Anti-Ragging Week 2026 from 12th to 18th August 2026, with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness and reinforcing the importance of a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
The observance concluded with a closing ceremony on 19th August 2026, during which a large gathering of students, faculty and staff of the Institute took the Anti-Ragging Oath, reaffirming their collective commitment to maintaining a campus free from ragging.
Prof. PRS Sarma addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of awareness about ragging and its consequences. He highlighted the provisions of the Regulations on ‘What Constitutes Ragging’ and outlined the punishments prescribed for violations under UGC norms. Students attending the campaign pledged to abide by the provisions of the Regulations and contribute towards maintaining a ragging-free campus.
As part of Anti-Ragging Week, Vatsalya, a student club, organized Debate, Essay Writing, Poster Making, and Reel Making competitions, providing students with an opportunity to creatively engage with and spread the message against ragging.
In the Debate Competition, Sona Purkayastha and Bole Sanskruti Santosh secured the first prize, Shreya Singh and Tushar Kanta Jena the second prize, and Anshu Yadav and Eshita Goyal the third prize.
In the Essay Writing Competition, Nakeena Sri C secured the first prize, followed by Garvita Mishra and Satoskar Jay Manohar in second and third places, respectively.
In the Poster Making Competition, Chikkala Sai Santhoshi secured the first prize, Utkreshta Gupta the second prize, and Batta Vaishnavi Revanth the third prize.
In the Reel Making Competition, Team RNS, comprising Ronak K Manoj and Siddarth Varma N, secured the first prize; Team Rag Rakshak, comprising Ishita Goyal and Anshu Yadav, secured the second prize; and Team Red, comprising Pratishta Mandoyi and Sanskruti Bole, secured the third prize.
The week-long observance reiterated the Institute community’s shared responsibility towards fostering a culture of safety, respect, dignity, and inclusion on campus.
