Research Update | IIM Visakhapatnam

We are pleased to share that a research paper co-authored by Prof. Juman Iqbal, titled “Navigating Workplace Incivility: The Role of Spitefulness and Camaraderie in Shaping Employee Renqing Behaviour - A Mixed-Method Inquiry,” has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Conflict Management (ABDC: A).

The study examines how workplace incivility influences employees’ renqing behaviour among academicians, with particular focus on the roles of spitefulness and employee camaraderie. Drawing on Affective Events and Social Exchange Theories, it develops a framework explaining the psychological and relational processes underlying renqing behaviour. Using an exploratory sequential mixed-method design, the study integrates qualitative insights with quantitative testing to explain how and when workplace incivility undermines reciprocal social exchange in academic workplaces.

Congratulations to Prof. Juman Iqbal and the co-authors on this significant research achievement and their contribution to understanding workplace behaviour and interpersonal conflict management.
