IIM Visakhapatnam Strengthens Technological and Managerial Leadership Through PGPMCI

The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam inaugurated the Campus Immersion Module 2 of the Post-Graduate Program in Management for the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI) Batch 2025-27, reaffirming its commitment to globally benchmarked management education in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020. As a BGA-accredited institution with a five-year accreditation term and a member of AACSB, IIM Visakhapatnam continues to strengthen interdisciplinary learning and leadership development for professionals from premier technical institutions across the country.

The week-long Campus Immersion module is designed to deepen managerial understanding while fostering collaborative learning, peer engagement, and leadership capabilities among participants balancing technical expertise with management education.

The current cohort marks an important milestone for the programme. After successfully completing the first year and earning a Diploma in Management, 51 participants have now opted to continue into the second year, which will culminate in the award of an MBA degree. The cohort represents participants from 22 states across India, with women comprising 31 percent of the batch, reflecting the programme’s growing diversity and national reach.

The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address and batch introduction by Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, Admissions Chair at IIM Visakhapatnam, who highlighted the unique blend of technical excellence and managerial aspiration that defines the PGPMCI programme.

Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, Chairperson of PGPMCI, introduced the structure and objectives of the Campus Immersion module. Reflecting on the programme journey, he noted that the first year focused on building strong foundations in management principles, while the second year would emphasise advanced case-based pedagogy, and capstone simulations. 

Delivering the inaugural address, Chief Guest Prof. Raman Bedi, Dean (Academics), National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, spoke about the evolving role of engineering graduates in today’s rapidly changing world. Emphasising the need to transform engineers into problem-solvers, he shared examples of innovative student-led projects undertaken at NIT Jalandhar, including intelligent attendance systems and placement management portals. He encouraged participants to identify and solve problems in their immediate environments through practical, technology-driven solutions with meaningful social impact.

Students also shared their experiences, describing the programme as transformative and impactful. They reflected on how the learning environment at IIM Visakhapatnam had expanded their perspectives, strengthened their leadership abilities.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by student representatives, who expressed gratitude to the faculty, institution, and organisers while affirming the cohort’s commitment to leading with responsibility, innovation, and impact.
